TRENCHLESS ASIA Returns Home
TRENCHLESS ASIA Returns Home

TRENCHLESS ASIA has a reputation for attracting top quality audiences to this highly focused Exhibition and Conference. The event was first held in Singapore in 1995 and has subsequently been held in Hong Kong and Shanghai. We returned to Singapore as organisers of ISTT’s International No-Dig Exhibition in 2010 and as a result of strong indications of support from many local and international suppliers, TRENCHLESS ASIA returns ‘home’ to Singapore in 2012.

To celebrate this homecoming, TRENCHLESS ASIA 2012 will be held alongside the fifth annual Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) which attracted some 13,000 visitors from 99 countries in 2011, bringing together global water leaders from the public and private sectors. SIWW is an all embracing water industry event and its audience will doubtless have a keen interest in attending TRENCHLESS ASIA to expand their knowledge and view the latest technology and products available for the installation and refurbishment of underground utilities, with minimum surface disruption.

At the inaugural TRENCHLESS event in 1995, Mohammed Alami Musa, Senior Engineer at the Ministry of Environment said that Singapore’s intention to plug into the latest developments in trenchless technology was part of its overall plan to be a model city serving as a regional centre for environmental engineering. He evidently had an acute vision of the future.

At the 28th International No Dig Show held at Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore in November2010, we heard from PUB Chief Executive Khoo Teng Chye just how far that vision had been realised. Therefore, it is no surprise that in 2012 the industry can look forward we are all pleased to return to Singapore with TRENCHLESS ASIA.

TRENCHLESS ASIA 2012 expects to attract the cream of exhibitors, local and international contractors with the best of technologies adapted for local conditions, along with a substantial body of experienced municipal engineers, their consultants and contractors to inform the debate at the training and conference sessions.

We look forward to meeting all industry colleagues in Singapore where we can build on the platform created by Westrade Group and ISTT in 2010, to provide a major showcase and forum for exchange of information and experience in the application of trenchless technologies for the public benefit.

Singapore – A Centre of Excellence

TRENCHLESS ASIA 2012 will showcase international machinery, products and methods which are available to aid the installation and refurbishment of underground utilities and pipelines without disruption to the surface.

Singapore is a regional centre of excellence for trenchless technology, established through the major microtunnelling projects undertaken by its national water agency, Public Utilities Board (PUB).

In the early 1980s, PUB adopted trenchless technology for the laying of sewers and the Deep Tunnel Sewerage Scheme. Trenchless technology has similarly been in use for the rehabilitation of sewers since the 1990s. These technologies presented a more efficient option of laying new sewers and rehabilitating old sewers to keep pace with Singapore’s rapid development, also minimising disruption to traffic and inconveniences to the public.
